SCHMIDT STRUCTURAL PRODUCTS MEZZANINE Helps Entertainment Facility Reach New Heights  Schmidt had pre-fabricated the mezzanine at their headquarters, then shipped it unassembled to Johnson's Collegeville facility. Within one week, Schmidt's assembly team erected the 2,500 square foot mezzanine. The J-shaped structure hugs the front and side walls of the 96 foot-by-80 foot showroom. The structure, which is surrounded entirely by sturdy protective railing, stands approximately 10 feet above the floor. Amazed by the quick, easy and relatively inexpensive assembly of the mezzanine structure, Johnson spoke well of Schmidt's performance. "The mezzanine was the easiest part of this whole undertaking. I wish the rest of this project went just as smoothly," noted Johnson. He had the mezzanine constructed first, with other additions built around it. Johnson wanted the facility to reflect a jungle-type atmosphere, and would eventually name the establishment "The Magic Jungle." To honor the customer's request for an earth-toned structure, Schmidt painted the steel posts and railings a unique shade of brown. Johnson had the facility professionally detailed in a jungle safari motif by a third party. The mezzanine allowed Johnson to create space in the facility for other attractions and amusements. Johnson uses the top level of the mezzanine as an entertainment center he calls the Treetop Arcade. Underneath the mezzanine there are three separate party rooms and a reception area. Johnson also constructed a gift shop below the mezzanine. The mezzanine also allowed space to construct an amphitheater, an indoor tree house, a small rock den, a dance floor and a jungle cafÈ, as well as an expansive dining area on the top and bottom levels. Jim Johnson has plans to expand his business, possibly by opening other entertainment facilities closer to the Philadelphia metropolitan area. At every new location, Johnson plans to install a Schmidt mezzanine as an integral part of each complex. |
